Custom made DataCable2 for Nikon
N90 / F90 / N90(s) / F90(x) / F100 / F5 analogue cameras
with GENUINE Nikon 10 pin connector
Compatible with Nikon MC-33 MC33 cable.

DataCable2 is based on Avi’s proven and successful design and each has been individually tested.
DataCable2 enables downloading* of shooting data from your Nikon camera to your PC, save/change camera’s CSM settings and camera control (see your software spec.) Compatible with Nikon MC-33 MC33 cable
exclaim2 Software (not included) is required in addition to this cable to download data)
exclaim2 DataCable2 will work with the following Nikon cameras depends on used software: N90, F90, N90s, F90x, F100, F5

* On N90/N90s/F90/F90x it will enable (through software) unlocking of some features
that otherwise require the MF-26 back.

Software for use with DataCable2:

exclaim2 In order for your camera to start recording data you must instruct it to do so from the software (except for F5). It will not record any data until this is activated!

exclaim2 If you are looking for the MC-31 MC31 cable, please note that this is the same cable except that it uses a D-9 pin computer connector and MC-31 uses the old style D-25 pin connector. In this case use a standard D-25 to D-9 adapter in order to use this cable.

exclaim2 If your computer has USB serial port, than use a standard USB to D-9 adapter.

Software list:

1. Camera Companion® – for F100
Starting Jan. 2013 this software is FREE, w/o support.

2. SoftTALK 2000® – for N90s, F90x, F100, F5
Starting Jan. 2008 this software is FREE.

3. Nikon Photo Secretary® – for N90S , F90X (AC-PWE), for F100 (AC-2WE), for F5 (AC-1WE)

I am NOT compromising on quality. In this high quality DataCable2 you’ll find:

1. Small electronics box
2. Professionally made PCB with protective solder mask layer
3. High quality components
4. Cable Strain Relief
5. Batteries free. Power is received from camera
6. Lenght of ~8′ (2.5m) , Much more than MC-33
7. and most important, you’ll find GENUINE Nikon 10 pin connector

Using Nikon’s 10 pin connector is VERY important because it is the only connector that ensures:

1. Safe and reliable attachment to camera using a threaded metal locking ring.
2. High quality and precise mechanical and electrical contacts.
3. Correct orientation to camera without a possibility for wrong attachment that might damage your camera/computer. It has mating slides to guide the attachment process.
4. Mating strength since ALL 10 pins are presented.
5. Industry standard quality of pins to internal wires connection.

I could have used a cheaper connector like those offered by others and saved about $30 but I decided not to compromise on this critical component.

When it comes to quality and protecting your expensive camera, my decision was to build a professional cable, no matter what it costs.

Have a nice and successful photography experience.

“I already received the DataCable2 yesterday! That’s nearly five days.
It was very well packed, clear manual included. I connected it to my F90X and F100 with a USB-to-serial connector into my laptop. Didn’t even needed a serial gender changer. It works perfect (in combination with SoftTalk 2000)!!!
Great service, so many thanks for this.”

G. from France:
“I received the DataCable2 yesterday and I connected my camera F100 to my PC as described into the package. The cable and the software I purchased (Camera Companion) work well. I test to download data from the F100 on my PC and store them into an Access DataBase, and it’s OK. I found the DataCable2 is well made. Good job ! I thank you very much for your prompt answer to my request and for the quality of your service.”

E. from USA:
“I received the cable today and tried it on two different Nikon F5s. I was using Windows XP SP2 and a Phoebe Airlink 101 D9/USB cable/connector. Everything worked fine, and in fact, I had far fewer communication timeouts with your cable than the Nikon MC-33. I’m not sure why, but that really was the case–only one time out with both cameras and all of the testing I performed. For some reason the metering status test using the MC-33 frequently caused communication timeouts, but in the “torture testing” I did with your cable I only got one, and that was recoverable. Must be something different, and for the better, in your cable electronics vs. that used in the Nikon MC-33″

How can I get one of those cables? I need to be able to hook my Nikon F90x to my PC, but I don’t have any software downloaded for it yet. Still trying to find out what software I need. Thank you.
